More details

Hi friends and family, Things are progressing well with the wedding plans! First and foremost, the civil wedding went off without a hitch. The whole deal was over in under five minutes! With that secured, we’re all good to go. We’ve added a picture, so you can get a feel for the event. Now that the actual, church wedding is getting nearer we’d like to finalise a few things.

* First off, could everybody please confirm how many people will be coming?

* Next, we’d like to let everybody know that the ceremony will start at 3 pm at Notre Dame des Anges in l’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. It is of course a good plan to be there with plenty of time to spare – this is a small village and parking space can be limited. At the drinks and dinner following the ceremony we don’t have a formal dress code, but we do ask people to be more formal during the church service. A formal dress for the ladies and coat and tie for the gentlemen would be appreciated.

* For those of you coming with small ones, great news! We’ve arranged for a baby sitter to look after the little ones during the ceremony, and who will also take care of them in a special area in the hotel during the drinks and dinner.

* We’ll be spending the two weeks following the wedding on a honeymoon, travelling through France and Italy by car. If you’re looking for the perfect gift, look no more! We’ve put down some of our ideas up on http://cmwedding.mydagsite.com/, for all the cool stuff we thought of to do during our honeymoon. Anything like the stuff we put down on the list would be greatly appreciated! ( Even more so than bulky items for which we’ve got no space in our tiny apartment ūüėČ )

More information about the day ( + babysitter! )

Just a short update as things are becoming more clear:

– The ‘main event’ will be at 3 PM, lasting for about an hour. This will be in the church ‘notre dame des anges’ in the center of l’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.

– Cocktails, dinner ( until about 11pm ) and drinks ( until however long we want ) will be held in Mas de Cure Bourse, also in l’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.

Relevant for some people; we’ve got a babysitter!¬†So one less thing to worry about.

Speaking of easy things – we’ve been thinking about what our perfect wedding gift would be. We figured, as we are already¬†looking forward to the honeymoon; if people want to offer us a lunch, dinner, museum visit or similar things that’s very much appreciated!

Options for accomodation

For all of you looking for accomodation; there’s actually heaps of options:

http://www.oti-delasorgue.co.uk/en-ot-delasorgue/en-principal/where-stay¬†is a great resource and from what we’ve seen on AirBnb¬†( look for Vaucluse, France ) and Hotels.com.

It seems like ‘Madame Vacances R√©sidence Provence Country Club’ is a real steal at E33 a night!

But of course the best option by far is ‘demeures du luc‘ where you can get a nice 6-8 person house ( with optional swimming pool ) for a week!

Feel free to ask for more info!

Practical information

We’ve just returned from a very productive trip to the Provence.

Most importantly, we’ve been able to talk to the priest of the local church, father Bruno Jolet, who confirmed that the main event will start at 15:00 on Thursday 26 May 2016 in Notre Dame des Anges. We’ve also visited the venue, Mas de Cure Bourse, where so far the plan is to start cocktails at around 16:00-16:30, which of course we will follow up with dinner after, starting at around 19:00-19:30 to last until much much later indeed.

We’ve started to create a downloadable map of interesting and useful places:cacheMy Places.kmz¬†which we use with maps.me. This is an offline gps navigation system that works on most smart phones.

Practical information about les demeures du luc

The south of France is beautiful and we can highly recommend renting a house there. We are staying with Michiel’s parents in a small community of 44 holiday houses in Saumane, called ‘les Demeures du Luc’. We would highly recommend and suggest people join us – you can rent a 6 or 8 person house, with a swimming pool for the whole week for around E1300. We will be doing this, as well as other people who are staying in ‘phase 1′ of the park. Do join us! The easiest way to do so is by sending an email to¬†lesdemeuresduluc@orange.fr.

For those of your wise and fortunate enough to join us for a whole week in ‘les demeures du luc’ in Saumane:

Directions: Route de Langes 338, 84800 Saumane de Vaucluse.

Drive from Lagnes towards Saumane ( D24->D57 ). After the turn to Fontaine de Vaucluse turn right after 500 meters, where you will see a little school. There are two gates there, take the left one. For your first visit, you will be able to enter the gate with the code that the rental agency will give you. After that, they’ll supply you with a remote control.

What to expect:

– A 1 hour drive from Marseille, 45 minutes from Avignon

– A 10 minute drive from Ilse-sur-la-sorgue, where the church and wedding venue are

– A communal swimming pool and tennis court

– A 15 minute walk from a golf course

– A 15 minute walk from a small, beautiful village

– A 30 minute drive to dozens of small, beautiful villages as well as Aix-en-Provence

– A 1 hour drive to the coast

Hello world!

Hi there! You’re probably here because you’re part of our lovely group of family or friends. ( If not, scram! ) We’re sure that after receiving the invitation you’re left with more questions than answers, so let’s get started:

Yes please! We’re going to visit the south of France around Christmas, to talk to the people at the church and the venue. We’d like to tell them how many people we’re expecting. So, please send an email to rsvp@cmwedding.nl to let us know if you’re coming and who you’re bringing along.

– Why are we doing this in France?

Chie is from the Philippines, Michiel is from the Netherlands. We live in Hong Kong and have friends and family from most parts of the world. As such, any place in the world will be easy to reach for some people and harder for others. Taking this into account, we decided to go to the best place in Europe ( where most of our guests are from ), with the best chance of very good weather; the Provence.  Info about the Vaucluse

– Why are we doing this on a Thursday?

We are already asking people to give up their time and visit us on our special day. We figured that while you’re there, having to rush home the following day would ruin things. In fact, we are recommending people stay for a week!

– Staying for a week?

Yes! That’s what we’re doing! In Demeures Du Luc (a 5 minute drive to L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue) there’s a group of vacation homes available to rent. Most can host up to eight people, most have their own swimming pool (there’s also a bigger communal pool for all to use)¬†and are perfect for a week long holiday in France. You can typically rent them by the week (Saturday until Saturday) and we’re happy to help people coordinate. ( Just send us an email! )

– Tell me more!

Saumane is in the heart of the Provence, a one hour drive from Marseille and close to lovely places such as Avignon, Aix-en-Provence and many small villages such as L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Gordes, Roussillon, M√©nerbes, Fontaine-de-Vaucluse and Lacoste. There’s a golf course next door, farmers’ markets in villages in the area most days of the week and a well known antiques market nearby on the weekend.

– Who’s going?

In time this should get filled up: Travel Plans & Organisation ..

– Gifts

While personal gifts are greatly appreciated, kindly consider we are flying back to Hong Kong after the wedding. Smaller packages are preferred as we won’t be able to bring too many big items along. We are grateful and thankful for your understanding.
